Topping out ceremony for new MediaCorp building

MediaCorp held a topping out ceremony for its new campus at Mediapolis@One-North in Singapore as builders reached the highest point of the building, according to Today.

The ceremony was attended by National Development Minister Khaw Boon Wan and 50 remote-controlled mini planes were launched with flags of MediaCorp’s brands and products.

The building is designed to facilitate closer collaborations among employees as the new interior does not have walls.

The public will also be able to visit the new campus and view live productions for news, radio, and drama through self-guided tours.

MediaCorp, which owns 13 FM radio channels along with TV, print and magazines, is due to move from its current premises at Caldecott Hill next year.

The new headquarters will include a 1,600 seat broadcast performance arts theatre, a broadcast centre featuring TV and radio studios and a public plaza complete with grand stairway for red carpet events.

MediaCorp’s Chairman Teo Ming Kian told the publication: “Building a new campus is a heavy investment, one that requires thoughtful planning to ensure that our move is more than just a physical relocation. It is an integral part of our transformation agenda.”
