New Asia chart show signs first station

Singapore’s Class 95 has premiered the region’s first weekly chart show Asia Pop 40.

The syndicated show airs on Friday afternoon from 2-5pm and again on Saturday evening from 9pm on Mediacorp’s No 1 English station.

It is hosted by Channel [V] and E! News Asia anchor Dom Lau.

Producers EON Syndicated Media are set to produce two versions of the show, one in English and one in Mandarin.

The three-hour chart show is compiled using data from iTunes about the most popular downloads across Asia.

EON says the show is the first regional countdown produced in Asia for Asian radio.

The Mandarin edition will be hosted by Malaysian-born entertainer Max Lim.

Executive Producer Rob Graham says he hopes “the Asia Pop 40 chart will become the main reference source for whatʼs hot in Asian music for the worldʼs music media; and because AP40 is made in Asia for Asia, this makes the Asia Pop 40 chart truly relevant for Asian audiences by being Asiaʼs first ever official regional chart.”
