Astro stations to boost FM coverage in Sarawak

Malaysia’s Astro Radio is to extend FM coverage for three of its stations to the city of Miri, in Sarawak.

English station hitz.fm, MY FM which broadcasts in Mandarin and Malay service Era FM will go live on August 24.

The stations will have a launch event at the city’s Bintang Megamall on the same day.

The station’s cruisers will be travelling round the city in the week leading up to the launch.

Astro says all three stations will relay the same content that originates from studios in Kuching, the capital of Sarawak.

The transmitters in Miri will have the ability to provide more localised content for community events when required.

Miri has a population of about 350,000 people and is located close to Brunei on Borneo island.

Astro stations have almost nationwide coverage on Peninsular Malaysia and Malaysian Borneo.
