Miri switch on for Astro Radio Malaysia

Malaysia’s Astro Radio switched on FM transmitters for three of its stations in the city of Miri in Sarawak on Saturday.

Malay station ERA FM, English channel hitz.fm and MY FM which airs in Mandarin can now be heard by an estimated half a million extra listeners.

Each station will broadcast around 6-7 hours per day of locally-produced programming, broadcast from the city of Kuching which is also in Sarawak on Borneo Island.

Several Malaysian artists and Astro Radio DJs attended the launch, which was held at the city’s Bintang Megamall.

Speaking at the launch, Astro Radio CEO Dr. Jake Abdullah said: “We’d like to extend our appreciation to the listeners and clients for all the support.  We believe with this extension and the localized segments will take us closer to our listeners and provides an opportunity for advertiser to reach out to their target audiences”.
