Astro reaches new heights in Sabah and Sarawak

Malaysia’s Astro Radio has grown its audience by seven percent in Sabah and Sarawak, according to the latest audience research by Nielsen.

The cities of Kuching and Kota Kinabalu saw a weekly reach of 559,200 people in June.

Its three stations have a listenership share of 45.2% in Kuching and 48.8% in Kota Kinabalu.

The Nielsen survey also shows that 98.6 percent of the population of the two cities listens to radio.

The company says the results of the Nielsen Radio Audience Measurement survey make it the leading radio operator there.

English station hitz.fm has a listenership of 258,700, ERA FM (Malay) has a reach of 241,000 while MY FM (Chinese) has 137,700 listeners.

Dr. Jake Abdullah, Astro Radio Chief Executive Officer said: “We are committed to make our radio stations appeal to listeners in Sabah and Sarawak. We are pleased the share of listenership for ERA fm, MY FM, hitz.fm radio stations is increasing. It is a clear indication that local consumers are responding well to our efforts.”

All three stations have latest 6-8 hours of local content on weekdays in both cities.
