International radio grand prix calls for entries

The theme Frontiers has been picked for this year’s International Radio Grand Prix.

The annual radio programming competition opened for entries on Thursday.

Organised by the International Television and Radio Union (URTI), the Grand Prix is marking its 25th edition this year.

The categories are:

  • The International Radio Grand Prix, endowed with a sum of $5,000.
  • The Silver Medal.
  • The Bronze Medal.
  • The Jacques Matthey-Doret Award for Discovery, given to a programme singled out for quality/ originality.

Created in 1989, the International Radio Grand Prix rewards programme producers from around the world.

The organisers say all types of content can be entered including short news reports, documentarties, essays, fiction, children’s stories and sound compositions.

The regulations are:

  • Programmes should be no longer than 60 minutes.
  • A maximum of two entries per organisation.
  • The entry should be accompanied by a write-up with time codes in French and/or English.
  • Entries can be uploaded to the URTI website.

An international jury of radio professionals will meet this autumn to pick the winners.
