UK station in royal renaming

A British radio station is eagerly awaiting the birth of Prince William and Princess Katherine’s baby and has promised to take the newborn’s name, at least for a week.

Star Radio is based in the same English city of Cambridge from where the royal couple take their royal titles.

Managing Director and morning show host Mark Peters says the station will rebrand itself from the moment the royal baby’s name is announced.

The station is even preparing to alter signs outside its building and the displays on in-car radio systems for seven days.

Every time a presenter refers to the station by its original name (Star Radio), bosses will make a donation to a local maternity unit, they say.

The British media has been speculating about possible names for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s first born baby.

Royal watchers say the couple are likely to go with a name that has strong links to a previous monarch.

The due date was Saturday 14th July, according to British newspapers.
