TuneIn revamps itself as a social audio network

TuneIn, the audio directory for podcasts and radio stations from around the world, is reinventing itself to get its 50 million active users to follow each other.

Rolled out this week to iOS, Android and the web, the new TuneIn is a first of its kind full-blown audio network, says CEO John Donham.

The new interface tells you if there’s a new version of a particular radio show available in real time, and lets you follow radio stations and friends.

There is also a new Explore page that shows recommended shows, stations and genres.

Kristin George, TuneIn’s VP of product told Engadget: “We have all this popular content, but we didn’t have a way to expose it to you, explore makes it sort of like an audio Netflix.”
