Star Radio inspires national pride train

Malaysia’s Star Radio group inspired Kuala Lumpur’s light rail operator to relogo one of its trains as part of the Kamilah Malaysia (We are Malaysians) campaign.

All four Star group stations – Red FM, Suria FM, 988 and Capital FM  – took part in the nation-building activity, which started in May and led up to the country’s Independence Day on Saturday.

The publicity garnered from the on-air campaign caught the attention of Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd, which runs the LRT services in the Malaysian capital.

A two-car light train was then redesigned with the national flag and the words Kamilah Malaysia.

The designs will stay on the train for the next six months along the 30 kilometre-long Kelana Jaya Line.

Star’s Deputy Group Chief Broadcasting Officer Kudsia Kahar said: “We are delighted to have our presence on a mass transit vehicle that is enjoyed by Malaysians of all walks, to be reminded that we are indeed a nation of many races but with one voice. So, regardless of all the differences, ‘Kamilah Malaysia.’”
