Fifteen years of SportsZone on the radio

Singapore’s longest running radio sports talk show celebrated its 15th anniversary on Saturday.

A big party was held for SportsZone, which airs on MediaCorp’s 938LIVE, at the China One nightclub at Clarke Quay.

Several prominent members of the local sports fraternity attended, including athletes, industry professionals and station listeners.

The three hour programme, which marked more than 700 SportsZone shows, also included the viewing of the live clash between Liverpool and Manchester United.

Andre Ahchak, who first created the talkshow in August 1998, returned to co-host the event with current Sports Editor, Raj Kumar.

Teo Ser Luck, Minister of State for Trade and Industry and Lim Teck Ying, CEO of the Singapore Sports Council, were also present.

SportZone, which still airs on Saturday at 11am, has built up a strong following over the years.

The show increased listenership by 35 percent during the recent Nielsen audience measurement period in April/May, said Kumar.
