The Chief of Malaysia’s Star Publications, which owns 988, Red FM, Suria FM and Capital FM, has called on research giant Nielsen to update its measurement of media consumption.

Star’s managing director and chief executive officer Wong Chun Wai said in an interview with his own paper: “Essentially, the method of content delivery, demographic and the lifestyle of our consumers have changed, but the measurements have remained unchanged.”

Wong backs the use of new technology – possibly including metered watches – to track radio listening and also called for diarys to be placed on tablets rather than in paper format.
