KL Symposium starts with digital radio workshop

A digital radio workshop in Kuala Lumpur on Friday set the stage for next week’s digital broadcasting symposium, organised by Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) .

The session, arranged by ABU, WorldDMB, RTM and DAB+, described how participants can save millions of dollars in radio operating and power costs.

The workshop, which continued on Saturday looking at infrastructure planning, will be followed by a day-long live DAB+ transmission demonstration throughout the city streets of Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.

The demo will include up to six field trips where DAB+ features and efficiency, compared to analogue FM broadcast, will be showcased.

DAB+ will feature strongly in the conference program for ABU Digital Broadcasting Symposium which formally begins on Tuesday.

The keynote presentation of this year’s DBS will be given by WorldDMB’s new President, Patrick Hannon, Vice-President for Corporate Development at Frontier Silicon, during which he will give delegates his global perspective on the future of DAB+ digital radio.

WorldDMB will host a booth at the DBS exhibition where delegates will be able to meet with syndicate members and experts.

On view, will be a broad range of the latest digital radio receivers ranging from affordable pocket radios up to mini music systems for the home and in-car solutions.
