RJ Meenakshi to go live from IRF Switzerland

RJ Meenakshi from MY FM has won ‘The Sound of India@IRF2014’ contest and will represent the country at the International Radio Festival (IRF) in Zurich, Switzerland.

She was chosen out of 100 entries from radio jocks and producers across more than 70 private and public FM radio stations over India.

Meenakshi is the popular breakfast host of ‘Salaam Chandigarh’ on 94.3 MY FM in the north Indian city of Chandigarh.

She has been selected along with her show producer Himanshu Gupta to be showcased at IRF from September 3 to 7.

Participating Indian stations uploaded RJ and show entries on to Mixcloud.com which were then shortlisted and judged by IRF in partnership with radionandusic.com.

Founded in 2010, IRF brings together ground-breaking music radio shows from around the world, offering their makers an opportunity to meet, network and showcase their programmes to their peers, to a live studio audience and on-air around the world.

Speaking on RJ Meenakshi’s selection, 94.3 MY FM’s CEO Harrish Bhatia said: “Meenakshi’s achievement is a testimony of all the hard work we have been putting in creating consumer centric content and of course, her superlative talent”

IRF festival co-founder Darryl von Daniken added:  “Meenakshi will be representing a different Indian mood and aspiration which is why we have collectively chosen her to be the Indian RJ face.”
