Radio 5 backs drugs education for HK parents

Hong Kong’s RTHK Radio 5 has launched a new anti-drug initiative for parents whose kids may be tempted by narcotics.

The ‘Star Parents Programme’ aims to raise awareness of youth drug abuse and to enhance parents’ skills in tackling the  problem.

Radio 5 is supporting the campaign with a twelve-episode radio show called ‘Smile family’, which will run from October to May 2015.

Jointly organised by the government and drugs charities, Friday’s opening ceremony was attended by more than 100 parents.

They pledged to foster a good relationship with their children and to stand by them if they were tempted by drugs.

The Hong Kong Parents Choir also gave a performance and former addicts from St Stephen’s Society put on a street dance show sharing how they quit drugs.
