Radio Television Hong Kong’s (RTHK) daily current affairs discussion programme on Radio 3 – ‘Backchat’ – aired a special broadcast from 12 pm to 1 pm on May 1.

The special May Day edition of the show was hosted by Hugh Chiverton and Danny Gittings, who discussed how the territory should choose the next Chief Executive of Hong Kong in 2017.

The panel included a possible leadership candidate Audrey Eu, an NPC delegate Peter Wong, Alan Hoo – a leading pro-Beijing law expert, and Michael Degolyer who is a Professor of Politics at the University of Hong Kong.

In a first for the English channel of RTHK, the programme was also relayed live on its new Digital TV Channel and webcast.

The event was co-organised with the nearby Baptist University, who provided the venue.
