Online Radio Awards close on Tuesday

Public voting for the first Online Radio Awards, launched by the International Radio Festival (IRF) and online streaming service Mixcloud, will close at 23:59 GMT on July 29.

A shortlist of nominees will be out on August 1 and winning entries will be announced on August 12.

In addition to global Best Station, there will also be an award for Best Asia-Pacific Station.

Winners will be chosen through a combination of public and industry panel votes.

The International Radio Festival will take place in Zurich from August 21 to September 7.

All the winning shows and stations will be promoted on Mixcloud and have the opportunity to be aired on the IRF radio station.

The two overall winners of the ‘Best Online Radio Show’ and ‘Best Online Radio Station’ will also win a trip to Zurich for the festival, where their show will be aired live and online to a global audience.

Mixcloud Co-founder Nikhil Shah said: “We’re always excited by the incredible content we see uploaded to our platform from DJs, programme makers and radio stations from all over the world.”

Darryl von Däniken, Festival Director, International Radio Festival, commented: “Radio is one of the world’s most consumed mediums, and online platforms will ensure it will remain the most listened to medium for many years to come.”
