Astro Radio FY2014 performance strong

Radio revenues at Astro Malaysia Holdings grew 15 percent on a year on year basis, according to the latest figures from the company.

Full year revenues for its network of radio stations reached US$75.5 million (RM 247 million) in FY14.

On a quarter on quarter basis, Q4 revenues climbed 7.5 percent to nearly $21 million (RM 68 million).

The company claims its share of radio advertising expenditure (Radex), as measured by Nielsen, grew a point to 54 percent between 2013 and 2014, that’s despite a slight audience dip from 12.3 to 12.2 million listeners, according to the most recent Nielsen survey.

As a media group, Astro Malaysia’s FY14 revenues grew 12 percent to $1.47 billion (RM 4.79 billion) on the back of strong advertising revenues, a 5 percent increase in Pay TV customers and the success of its free satellite TV service NJOI.

Overall annual pre-tax profits fell slightly to $173 million (RM 569 million) but grew to $39 million (RM127.16 million) in Q4 (on a quarter on quarter basis).

Quarterly revenues grew 3.5 percent to $386 million (RM1.26 billion).
