AIR pays tribute to Mahatma Gandhi with special series

India’s public broadcaster All India Radio (AIR) is marking a century of Mahatma Gandhi’s return to the country from South Africa with a 100-episode series.

The research-based series is being aired from January 9 at 8.30 a.m. on FM Rainbow network and 9.15 a.m. on FM Gold network, reports Radioandmusic.com.

It has been produced by veteran broadcaster Madhuker Upadhyay and traces Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi’s journey from being a barrister in South Africa to becoming Mahatma Gandhi.

The series will also share interesting facts like 365 days of quiet and solitude in Gandhi’s life after his return from South Africa and the reason behind it.

The incident has been chronicled by in Upadhyay in a book called ‘Khamoshi ki Daastaan’ or ‘Chronicle of the Quiet Days’.

Another episode will recount when Gandhi’s eyes, which were filled with enthusiasm and zeal, had a forlorn look when he did not see his political guru Gopal Krishna Gokhale.
