Yes101 installs festive studio in central Colombo

Sri Lanka’s YES 101 is continuing a decade-long tradition that sees the station broadcast on location for most of December.

This year, the station has set up a special YESMAS studio inside retro pub The Margarita Blue at Colombo’s Galadari Hotel.

The live broadcasts, which run from December 1 to 24, have become part of the build-up to the festive celebrations in the Sri Lankan capital.

YES 101 DJs broadcast from the venue counting down to Christmas Day giving away cash prizes.

This year, there are extra special gifts for listeners as they station marks its 20th anniversary.

In addition, DJs are encouraging listeners to contribute to the station’s School Bag project, which aims to kit out schools in the northern city of Jaffna.

The ideal school bag donation will contain:

1. 5 x 80 page single rule books.

2. An eraser, a sharpener, 5 pens, 5 pencils, a ruler, a small scissor and a bottle of glue.

3. A basic pencil case, a lunch box and a water bottle.

4.  A small box of basic color pencils and a small box of crayons.

5. A shoe Voucher not exceeding 1000 rupees (DSI).

Listeners have been dropping them off at the YESMAS temporary studio at the Galadari Hotel.
