Thailand: Digital radio trials set for 2014

Thailand’s media regulator says it will start trials of digital radio in 2014.

The Bangkok Post reports that the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) will collaborate with government agencies that own radio frequencies.

The paper says it will use non-allocated frequencies in the VHF band for trials.

In March, Thailand ran a trial of the DAB+ platform.

Earlier this year, Col Natee Sukonrat, chairman of NBTC’s broadcasting committee, confirmed that Asia Radio Today that digital radio would be next following the licensing of digital terrestrial TV, which has taken place over the past few months.
