World Music Day on Radio City

India’s Radio City 91.1 FM is planning a three-day concert to celebrate the World Music Day on June 21.

‘Radio City Concert’, which in its third year will feature some of the most well-known singers performing unplugged versions of hits right from the ‘80s, starting June 19.

These include Kailash Kher, Aakriti Kakkar, Raghav Sachar, Neeti Mohan and Shibani Kashyap.

Acapella maestros Chai Town, Penn Masala and YouTube sensations like Shraddha Sharma and Hanu Dixit will also take part in the activity.

Radio City Chennai in southern India station will feature top music directors from the Tamil music industry from June 22 to 26.

They include G V. Prakash Kumar, Anirudh, D Imman and Sean Roldan.

Radio City Hyderabad and Vizag will feature famous music directors RP Patnaik, MM Srilekha and Koti doubling up as singers as they perform their top tracks.

 The channel’s web platform PlanetRadiocity.com will also run specials catering to the respective style of each of its 21 stations.

Radio City Fusion will play classical folk music stemming from different parts of India on 21st June starting 4 pm. 

Radio City Malayalam & Kannada will have Antakshari on radio, where, when one song gets over the next song to be played will start with the last alphabet of the previous song. 

With Indie music establishing a strong hold in the industry, RJ 2Blue will speak on the 10 well known Indie artists featuring the likes of Faridkot, Parikrama, Indian Ocean and Papon.

PlanetRadiocity.com listeners will also get to participate in the 21 on 21 contest, which will ask seven interesting questions per day per stream. Listeners who answer most of the questions correctly stand a greater chance of taking home a coveted prize.
