‘Bollywood covers weekend’ for India’s Radio City

On World Music Day last Saturday, listeners to Radio City 91.1 FM, India’s 20-station network were treated to a host of programming initiatives.

Across eight cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Jaipur and Nagpur, the station played two days of non-stop Bollywood covers by 75 artists from around the world for the ‘Radio City Concert’.

These included Kailash Kher, Aakriti Kakkar, Jonita Gandhi, Khushboo Grewal, Chai Town from USA and Avish Sharma from New Zealand.

For listeners in the western city of Pune, RJs paid a tribute to the epic compositions by music directors over the years.

In Hyderabad, a special show ‘Sapta Swaralu’was hosted by RJ Priyanka, featuring ‘Top 7’ music directors in a candid conversation about their music and inspiration.

On it digital platform, PlanetRadiocity.com there were special request shows on Radio City Love, Radio City Dance, Radio City Malayalam, Radio City Tamil & Radio City Hindi.

Talking about the various programming initiatives, Kartik Kalla, National Programming Head, Radio City 91.1 FM, said: ” This year, while encouraging music in its purest form we weakened the music boundaries by featuring artists from USA, UAE, New Zealand, Australia, UK, Canada, amongst others. We are sure that listeners will thoroughly enjoy this music experience.”
