Two weeks to get factual entries in for The AIBs

Only two weeks remain for stations to enter The AIBs 2014, the annual awards showcasing global factual broadcasting in any language.

The accolades, now in their 10th year, are given out by The Association for International Broadcasting (AIB).

Covering topics from live journalism to sport, children’s factual to current affairs, investigative reporting to science, the entries celebrate the best radio, TV and online content.

The awards are independent of commercial interest and judged by a panel of independent highly respected media professionals.

Radio categories include ‘Live journalism’, ‘Current affairs documentary’, ‘Investigative documentary’ and ‘Creative feature’.

There is also a separate ‘International radio personality’ category for on-air talent.

Last year, Asian winners included Radio Taiwan International, Kazakhstan Republican TV & Radio and Radio Free Asia (RFA).

The awards ceremony will be held in London on November 5, where the winners will be announced in front of guests representing the media industry from around the world.

Simon Spanswick, CEO of the AIB said: “We’ve been amazed by the diversity of stories that have been expertly covered by broadcasters and independent producers on every continent. It has also brought innovative programme makers to the attention of major broadcasters and we are proud of our role in helping develop the careers of many talented people.”

Entries must be submitted to the AIB by July 23. For more information, visit www.aib.org.uk.
