Symphony seeks the next Vanessa Mae

MediaCorp’s Young Talents Project for budding classical music prodigies aged 15 and below returns for a third year.

Organised by classical station Symphony 92.4FM, the contest is open to citizens and residents of Singapore and other Asian countries until March 28.

Through the audition stages, a ‘live’ Music Marathon will be held at Orchard Central in March 2014 to showcase these hopeful Young Talents onstage.

Shortlisted finalists will be invited to take part in masterclasses held by world-renowned musicians.

Selected by internationally-renowned judges, the top 10 grand finalists will get the opportunity to perform at Young Talents Project 2014 Gala Concert in June which will be broadcast live.

They will vie for cash prizes totaling up to S$10,000 and the AMADEUS Young Talent Prize, which includes an all expenses paid trip to Vienna, Austria for masterclasses.

“Being the only classical music station in Singapore, Symphony 92.4FM believes that Singapore can play a part in the region to discover and nurture talents in music and enhance the appreciation of classical music through music education,” said Wang Ya-Hui, Vice President of Symphony 92.4FM.

“Young Talents Project looks to provide a supportive and motivational platform for these young classical musicians to be seen and heard,” she added.
