Storm halts MediaCorp Subaru Challenge

Possibly the region’s most high profile radio contest – the MediaCorp Subaru Challenge – was disrupted by thunderstorms on Monday.

The game had to be halted for an hour when the Singapore shopping plaza where it is taking place was hit by heavy rain, reports Channel News Asia (CNA).

Hundreds of finalists turned up on Saturday for a chance to win a brand new car by winning a game of endurance by keeping their hands on the vehicle.

The challenge normally lasts for several days and finalists are only allowed five minute breaks every six hours.

Constestants have to win a game of stamina  have to keep both hands on the car, aiming to be last person standing.

The competition often lasts more than 3 1/2 days.

CNA reports that as of 8pm on Monday, around 360 people have dropped out of the competition, leaving less than 40 battle-hardened finalists to fight for the car, a brand new Subaru Forester 2.0i Premium.
