Radio Asia 2014 theme announced

The organisers of Radio Asia 2014 have picked the theme ‘It’s all about the content: Positioning new radio in the Knowledge Society’ for next year’s conference.

Radio industry executives will meet in Colombo, Sri Lanka from May 21-23 for the event, arranged by Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU).

With mobile and internet beginning to replace traditional methods of delivering radio, the conference will focus on how stations can still deliver “content with substance in an age of convergence”, according to an ABU press release.

Sessions will likely highlight how broadcasters are adapting to the use of multiple devices by consumers.

Radio Asia will see “programmers and executives from across the commercial and public service broadcasting spectrum share exciting new ideas which are enabling radio to continue to re-invent itself to meet the challenges and requirements of the changing audience environment”.

Alongside the Radio Asia conference, the second ABU Radio Song Festival will also take place on May 23.

The song fest will see diverse musical talents from across Asia, Australia and the Pacific perform in Colombo.
