Planet Radio Malaysia returns with a world of possibilities for students

Planet Radio, an annual event targeting college and university students in Malaysia, was back for its fifth edition this year.

Organised by Commercial Radio Malaysia (CRM), the day long-event was held on August 17.

An outreach platform with the aim of encouraging graduates to consider radio as a viable career option, it introduces the current state of the radio industry, provides an overview of multi-discipline career opportunities – voice talents, sales, marketing, engineering, legal, regulatory, IT, finance, copywriting, and research – and debates the future prospects of radio industry.

The theme for this year’s event was ‘Radio Today’ and it showcased experienced industry talents as they shared their thoughts on how radio has evolved throughout the years, especially with the rapid developments in the world of technology.

Loke Yin Ling, organising chairperson from Star Media Radio Group said: “The media industry has evolved tremendously in the recent years and it has been an exciting journey for most of us. The event, a collaborative effort by all 24 radio stations of Commercial Radio Malaysia, our partners as well as our sponsors, aims to tell the story of these  experiences to our future leaders who will in time, shape and lead the future of Malaysian radio.”

“There are vast opportunities within the industry and we’re always looking to attract new talent to be groomed for an exhilarating career in Radio”, says Datuk Jake Abdullah, CRM’s President.  “It’s a fast-paced and exciting medium that’s constantly evolving and needs a wealth of driven people.  Planet Radio 2016 will be an exceptional experience for those interested in joining the industry. The comprehensive program is designed to be educational, entertaining and memorable.”
