One of Phuket’s English stations LIVE 89.5 has hired Dave O’Connor to host its breakfast show.

With 15 years radio experience, O’Connor recently picked up two Irish radio awards while working for the station IRadio in his native Ireland.

He joins Kirsty Meyer on the Breakfast Show, replacing Australian Sam Clarke who left the island to return home.

O’Conner will also be Head of Music.

He told the Phuket News, which owns the station, that he had visited Thailand earlier in the year but at the time had no idea, he would return to work there.

“Happiness isn’t about salary, it’s about waking up being happy with where you are and what you’re doing. Phuket is a new challenge for me and a new place to fulfil that desire,” he told the paper.
