MediaCorp’s Tamil station in Singapore, Oli 96.8 FM organised a Junior Presenter Workshop for students aged between 10 and 14 last month.

The three-day workshop was held at Umar Pulavar Tamil Language Centre and was attended by 82 students.

The objective of the workshop, organised in association with TV channel Vasantham, was to impart radio, TV and stage presentation skills to the participants.

Event producers Vimala and Bamah along with DJs Anand, Jaynesh, Rafi, Ranjiny, Ravi, P N Bala and Shamini taught students Tamil pronunciations, radio presentations, voice intonations, body language, facial expressions, news reading and communication skills.

They also shared insights on the history of radio in Singapore, radio as a media business, life of a radio DJ and the importance of news and current affairs.

One of the highlights of the workshop was a segment called ‘10 Minutes of Fame’ where students were mentored by an Oli DJ to come up with their own 10 minutes stage act.

A group made up of students mentored by Oli DJ Mohamad Rafi were the winners of this contest.

All participants walked away with prizes and a certificate of attendance at the end of the event.
