No radio winner for Thai advertising awards

Judges at an awards ceremony to celebrate the best in advertising in Thailand have refused to pick a winner in the radio category.

The Media Agency Association Thailand (MAAT) Awards took place in Bangkok on September 23.

Agencies and production houses could win awards in one of sixteen categories including audio – the category for radio, podcast and other audio techology.

But despite picking winners in every other category, judges decided not to choose an audio winner.

In an email reply to Asia Radio Today on Monday, Preechaya Kaitkanarat from MAAT explained the reason for their decision.

“The judging parameters for this category were to recognise creative ways to maximize message from core audio content. Judges were looking for the creative use of audio content via various forms, its extension and also the creative use of technology to get the message across.

“Based on all submissions, there was only one entry that earned a ‘passing finalist’ score from all judges.  However, this entry did not show strong enough evidence -in the eyes of our judges- to earn the award.
