Singapore’s largest broadcaster MediaCorp is once again calling for listeners to pick their favourite radio personalities.

Seventy-two presenters from its 13 FM stations are up for a total of 26 gongs in the annual MediaCorp Radio Awards.

Listeners to the ten most popular stations can vote by SMS for their favourite personality.

The stations are: 938LIVE, Gold 90.5FM, Class 95FM, 987FM (all English), Capital 95.8FM, Love 97.2FM, YES 93.3FM (all Chinese), Warna 92.4FM, Ria 89.7FM (Malay) and Oli 96.8FM (Tamil).

The results of the listeners’ vote will be independently verified by an auditing firm.

Awards are also given by a committee of judges for Best Radio Show, Best Promotion, Best Trailer, Most Stylish Personality, Best Newcomer and Lifetime Achievement among others.

A new category, Breakthrough Radio Personality, has also been added this year.

Dahlia Z, Chairperson of the Awards Organising Committee said: “The introduction of the “Breakthrough Radio Personality” award is to give recognition to radio personalities who have been pushing themselves with added responsibilities, excelling in different roles within broadcasting and gaining both popularity and maturity while putting radio at the  forefront of what they do.”

Local media will pick the winners of four other categories for Best Radio Personality in English, Chinese, Malay and Tamil languages.

The awards will be held at MediaCorp’s TV theatre on November 15.
