The New York Festivals International Radio Program Awards will feature several new categories for 2014.

Entries for this year’s competition opened on Thursday.

The new categories include Best Nonfiction Series, Best Student Journalist and Travel & Tourism Documentary and Podcast.

Rose Anderson, Executive Director of International Awards Group said, “At New York Festivals we continue to be responsive to current industry trends; our categories continue our tradition of honoring the very best programs and promos being created in radio today and encourage the next generation of story-tellers and talent across all audio platforms.”

Since 1982, NYF’s International Radio Program competition has been honouring innovative work by radio stations, networks, and independent producers from around the globe.

“There are no geographical boundaries for talent and innovation, so we have no boundaries in our entry process,” added Rose Anderson.

The deadline for entering the 2014 World’s Best Radio Programs competition is March  19, 2014.
