Asia’s most demanding and largest endurance contest, the MediaCorp Subaru Challenge, returns next month.
Now in its 12th year, the Singapore-based radio competition has recently been opened up to regional entries.
This year, four hundred contestants from all over Asia will compete for the chance to win the all new Subaru Forester 2.0i Premium.
The challenge is a joint initiative between Motor Image Enterprises and MediaCorp.
Finalists will be invited to Ngee Ann City’s Civic Plaza on Saturday, 26th October, where the car will be on display.
Contestants must stand with the palms of their hands on the car and attempt to outlast all the other entrants.
Finalists are only permitted five minute breaks every six hours.
The winner will be the last person to keep their hands on the car.
Last year’s winner was Tholmas Gan Yu Shen, a 42-year-old Singaporean, who checked in 78 hours and 30 minutes of standing time.
The current record stands at 81 hours and 32 minutes held by the 2008 winner, Singaporean, George Lee.
To entice more people to take part, several smaller prizes will be awarded along the way.
Erina Cook, Senior Programme Director, Gold 90.5FM, MediaCorp said: “Marking the 12th year, a bumper crop of prizes will be given away every 12 hours, to reward all contestants still in the challenge. We look forward to see if another record time will be established by the ultimate challenge.”
