Tributes have been paid to Haji Bakhtiar Arshad, one of the founder members of Malaysia’s radio industry body Commercial Radio Malaysia (CRM), who has died aged 63.

He passed away on Jan 2 at his home in Johor Bahru, according to The Star newspaper.  He had been ill for some time.

Haji Bakhtiar was also CEO of Suara Johor, which runs regional station Best 104.

In 1998, Haji Bakhtiar helped set up CRA’s forerunner, the Malaysian Association of Commercial Radio Operators (MACRO).
