Lush raises cash for Autism Society

Singapore’s Lush 99.5FM is raising money for its adopted charity for 2014 – Autism Association (Singapore) (AAS), with an art event.

Titled ‘#Lushloveslocal Art X Music’, the event will see eight local artists create art inspired by local music, which will be auctioned on October 25 at Yeo Workshop at Gillman Barracks.

The artists include Sandra Riley Tang of The Sam Willows, Andy Yang, Jonathan Kiat, Little Ong, Heider Ismail, Marc Gabriel, Eric Foenander and “Sticker Lady” Samantha Lo.

Each piece will start auctioning at $300 and the station hopes to raise enough money to support those who attend one of AAS’s schools and care centres.

Lush 99.5FM, which rebranded itself as an indie station this year says the concept is an expansion of its philosophy to support and create awareness of local art, music and culture.

Vanessa Fernandez, Assistant Programme Director of Lush 99.5FM said: “This concept is about finding inspiration from our own to bring out the amazing and unique talent we have inside ourselves. It’s our way of finding an answer to the question of “What is the Singapore voice in art and music?”

Ms Paula Teo, Senior Manager of Programmes and Services at Autism Association (Singapore) said: “Every little bit goes a long way and everyone can make a difference. We hope that other corporations or individuals will also be inspired to step up and get involved.”
