Lankan stations in exclusive World Cup cricket deal

Sri Lanka’s Voice of Asia network has acquired exclusive radio rights to broadcast ball-by-ball updates of the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup on all of its four stations.

The network runs two English channels – Kiss FM and Real Radio – along with Varanam FM in Tamil and Siyatha FM in Sinhala.

Earlier it was involved with the 2007 and 2011 cricket world cups, engaging its listeners with a chance to win cars and other valuable prizes during the tournament.

A spokesman for Voice of Asia said: “We insisted this time around to broadcast network-wide as we believe it is time Sri Lankan radio breaks the language barrier. We understand our audience works really hard day and night with limited access to television. That’s why we have taken it upon ourselves to air updates for discerning fans across the nation.”
