Hong Kong radio host quits

Wan Hoi, a presenter for Hong Kong’s Commercial Radio has resigned after one of his pre-recorded programmes was cut.

The South China Morning Post reported that Wan described at length on his June 8 show about how a Chinese mainland microblog service had removed a controversial photo from its site.

The image was taken at the annual Hong Kong vigil in memory of the 1989 Tiananmen Square crackdown.

The photo showed protesters standing in the rain in the territory’s Victoria Park on June 4.

A 20 minute portion of the show was cut.

Wan’s show ‘No 4 Mount Davis’ usually focuses on UFOs and the paranormal.

Commercial Radio said that Wan’s remarks had breached Hong Kong’s broadcasting code.
