Hong Kong radio host fired – no uproar, claims columnist

Columnist and television show host Michael Chugani has questioned the political and media silence following the firing of another Hong Kong radio host.

In the South China Morning Post, Chugani wrote about the recent sacking of freelance DJ Ng Ka-lim from internet radio station D100.

Ng was fired after he took part in the anti-Occupy Central march in Hong Kong as an MC recently.

D100 is a station owned by Albert Cheng, a free-speech advocate.

Ng, who hosts a classical show on the station, was sacked for political reasons, admitted Cheng.

In his article, Chugani ridiculed the Hong Kong Journalists Association, which had reacted strongly when another radio host Li Wei-ling was fired by Commercial Radio in February but stayed silent over Ng’s sacking.
