Govt launches inquiry into Delhi radio tower collapse

India’s Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has launched an inquiry into the collapse of a tower used by several FM stations in Delhi.

Five private radio networks were taken off air for many days when a severe storm struck the mast on May 30.

A four-member committee has been ordered to investigate all aspects related to the collapse of the 149-metre high tower in north Delhi.

The committee will submit its findings in around two weeks to the Information and Broadcasting Secretary Bimal Julka.

The members of the committee are — Mukul Tyagi, retired Chief Engineer of All India Radio, A K M Tripathy, formerly Chief Manager, TSL, Allahabad, P Das from Prasar Bharati and Bal Kishan, Director (Radio), Telecom Engineering Centre.
