Era FM to conquer Mount Kinabalu for record books

Malaysia’s Era FM is looking to enter the Malaysian Book of Records by conquering Mount Kinabalu through a radio programme.

Kinabalu is the highest mountain the Malay archipelago and the Astro Radio station plans to broadcast live from its summit on December 11.

The climb will take place on the International Mountain Day, when a team of station announcers will broadcast continuously for 14 hours as they ascend to the summit.

The team includes DJs Haniff, Ray, Beebey, Ily and Christ from ERA FM Sabah, Chopie from ERA FM Sarawak, Jym and Gin from MY FM and Arnold and Rica from Hitz FM.

The broadcast will be aired across Peninsular and East Malaysia from 6 am to 8 pm.

Syazlee Zalsyam Zakaria (Uno), Operation Manager, Astro Radio Sabah said: “This is an opportunity to create awareness about the importance of mountains to life, to highlight the opportunities and constraints in mountain development and to build partnerships that will bring positive change to the world’s mountains and highlands.”
