DurianAsean launches, to bring Southeast Asians closer

On its third anniversary, DurianFM, Malaysia, launched a sister station – DurianAsean online, which is devoted to discussion of news and current issues in Southeast Asia.

Broadcasting in English, the station will focus on politics, economy and social topics affecting Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) and their impact on the community.

Initially, the station will air two shows, reports the Malay Mail.

The first, ABC (Asean Breakfast Call) will also be broadcast through radio in ten other Asean countries through a news exchange project.

Another program called ‘HELP on the Way’ will focus on lifestyle, education, psychology, entertainment and sports for students.

DurianFM executive director Jamaluddin Ibrahim told The Malay Mail that the station’s launch marked a big step forward in Malaysia’s democracy.
