BIG FM pays tribute to Kannada film industry

92.7 BIG FM is paying tribute to the regional film industry in Bangalore with the launch of Retro Talkies.

The new show is hosted by Sihi Kahi Chandru and Sihi Kahi Geetha, one of the best known tv and movie couples in the state of Karnataka.

The station says the couple, who are known for their brilliant onscreen chemistry, will “make afternoons both exciting and rejuvenating”.

Retro Talkies airs weekday afternoons from 2-5pm and features a variety of soundtracks from classic films made in the regional Kannada language.

The 1970s and 80s are widely seen as a golden era for Kannada films and the station has promised the show will build bridges between listeners, filmmakers and superstars as they describe their journey in the industry.

“We are certain that Sihi Kahi Chandru and his wife will make the experience one that is very special,” said Ashwin Padmanabhan, Business Head, 92.7 BIG FM.

BIG FM, owned by Indian billionaire Anil Ambani, operates in 45 Indian cities.

Its Bangalore station is regularly rated number three, according to weekly Radio Audience Measurement (RAM).
