BIG FM announces singing talent hunt winners

Indian network 92.7 BIG FM has announced the winners of the third season of its singing talent hunt show ‘BIG Golden Voice’.

Popular singer and music director Shankar Mahadevan, the mentor and judge of the show, announced Alankar Mahtolia from Delhi and Sreekanth Hariharan from Chennai as winners.

The winners were selected from over 100,000 entries and will get a chance to be a part of Shankar Mahadevan’s next Bollywood project.

The contest also saw entries coming from other countries including US, Canada, Bangladesh and Pakistan. Participants competed to seek votes from their region that in turn helped dictate their entry into the national level competition.

Of the 37 entries, 12 shortlisted voices went on to represent talent at the national platform.

Ecstatic after his win, Mahtolia, 20, said: “This is my first win at a national level. Though it never felt like a competition as every kid came in with their specialty in specific genre. Some were good in folk while some excelled in Sufi. I was confident about my practice and knew that I do stand a strong chance to win.”

21 year-old Hariharan, who was born in a family of music experts, said: “I thank Shankar Sir for mentoring us the way he did. This was my first competition on a national level.”

Previous season’s winner Sayani Palit and runner up Digvijay Singh Pariyar were also present at the event to lend their support to participants.

Shankar Mahadevan said: “I am glad that though this show we can provide them with a platform to showcase their talents.”
