2DAY FM listeners react to Breakfast with the Stars

Sydney’s newest morning show hosts scored themselves out of ten after their first shift on Monday.

Jules Lund, Merrick Watts, Sophie Monk and Spice Girl Mel B launched Breakfast With the Stars on 2DAY FM after former hosts Kyle & Jackie O quit to be part of a new station.

While wrapping up their first show, Lund rated the foursome a 7.5, while singer and actress Monk gave them a 4.0.

But some fans were less than complimentary, taking to the station’s Facebook page to vent their frustration.

One listener Jackie Walker said: “Sorry guys, gave it a chance this morning.  Didn’t excite me at all.”

Another, Rachel Green, added:  “Four people is too many, it was all too crazy.  I think Sophie and Jules would have been great!”

But industry pundits were kinder.  One said it was “pretty good” while another said that one day was too early to judge a new show.

2Day FM is battling to retain its number one position in the highly competitive morning airwaves.

With so many voices in the studio, the hosts have adopted nicknames for themselves. Jules is ‘Happy Chappy’, Merrick is ‘Medium Rare’, Sophie is “Ditzy With Disconcertingly Low Voice” and Mel B – who co-hosts from her bedroom in LA – is ‘With Accent’.

“We are having the time of our lives,” Jules told the Sydney Morning Herald after the first show.

Speaking to Celebfix.com about the one downside of her new role, Sophie said, “Well, my sex life is over, unless someone wants to meet me for dinner at four!”
