Singapore station Gold 90.5FM is to put on a second authentic Viennese ball this year, due to popular demand.

The white-tie event, known as The Gold Ball – A Viennese Affair, will be held on Saturday 5 October at the The Shangri-La Hotel’s Island Ballroom.

The MediaCorp-owned station says its guests will “experience the grandeur of an authentic Viennese Ball, complete with elegant dancing, exquisite cuisine and fine wine”.

Gold 90.5FM personalities will also take to the dance floor.

The event is supported by the Embassy of the Republic of Austria.

The internationally-renowned Schoenbrunn Palace Orchestra will be specially flown in from Vienna to perform a repertoire of waltzes and polkas by Johann Strauss and other notable composers from the Vienna Classic period.

A charity auction will also be held, with proceeds going towards the station’s adopted charity – Willing Hearts, a non-profit organisation that cooks and distributes free meals daily to the needy.
