VOV, RTHK and RTM win ABU radio prizes

State broadcaster Voice of Vietnam won the Special Jury award, one of the radio prizes handed out at the recent Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) General Assembly in Hanoi.

VOV was recognised for its programme Hot Radio, a talent show for amateur singers in Vietnam.

Bangladesh Betar was commended for its drama The Rising Sun, which writer and producer M Fakhrul Karim collected on behalf of the organisation.

Other radio awards handed out at the ceremony on October 28th went to Hong Kong public broadcaster RTHK for the news report Blacksheep The Killer – Children Who Kill Their Parents and Radio Television Malaysia for the promo What Colour is Water?

Commendations also went to Korean broadcaster MBC for the documentary My Family,  Japanese station NHK for the drama A Happy Death and Radio Today Bangladesh for the interactive show PicchiKotha.

Outside our region, there were prizes for Australian Broadcast Corporation (ABC), Radio New Zealand and the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB).
