Symphony takes classical music to the CBD

The winners of Symphony 92.4FM’s Young Talents Project 2014 performed last Wednesday at a concert at the Ocean Financial Centre (OFC) in the heart of Singapore’s Central Business District (CBD).

The event was a part of ‘Symphony in the City’ – a bid by the MediaCorp station to bring classical music to a wider audience.

Performers of the night included ‘Young Prodigies Award’ winners – pianist Jessie Meng and violinist Chloe Chua as well as Kennis Ang- recipient of the ‘Symphony’s Prize’.

The concert was the first in a series of live performances that will be held every Thursday and Friday from October 2 to 19 at the Marina Bay Link Mall.

Office-goers can drop in here to watch Symphony 92.4FM’s producer-presenters, winners from Symphony 92.4FM’s Young Talents Project 2014 and local talented musicians.

They can also enjoy a ‘Meet and Greet’ with the station’s DJs and get a chance to dedicate favourite Broadway, Classical or Jazz tunes on-air.

Wang Ya-Hui, Vice President of Symphony 92.4FM, Radio Division, MediaCorp, said: “We want to bring classical music performances to the people and spread the appreciation for music and arts.  Singapore is one of the world’s major commercial hubs and the fourth biggest financial centre and by performing at the business district we hope to help build Singapore into an arts and culture capital like Paris and New York.”
