Shakti FM: ‘World’s biggest outdoor studio’

Sri Lanka’s Tamil station Shakthi FM broadcast for a week from what it called the ‘World’s Biggest Outdoor Radio Studio’.

From August 18 to 24, the station came live from the ‘Shakthi Zone’ in close proximity to Nallur Kovli in Jaffna.

The temporary studio was declared open by Chief Minister of the Northen Province C.V. Wigneswaran.

All Shakthi FM radio programmes were aired live during the week from the ‘Shakthi Zone’ along with numerous cultural events.

Television channel News 1st – also owned by Capital Maharaja – also conducted screen tests and voice tests at the location during the last two days of the broadcasts.

In just the first three days, over 100,000 people visited and over 500,000 people witnessed the ‘World’s Biggest Outdoor Radio Studio’, said Chief Minister Wigneswaran in a Facebook update.
