Sacked HK anchor gets protest tips from Taiwan

Former Commercial Radio Hong Kong (CRHK) host Li Wei-ling joined a trip to Taiwan to find out about the territories own civil disobedience campaign.

She joined several other well-known Hong Kong personalities as they sought to get tips for their own movement, reports The Hong Kong Standard.

Li was known to be a vocal critic of the HK government during her 10-year stint with Commercial Radio Hong Kong, which ended in February when she was fired.

Occupy Central is a proposed nonviolent protest for universal suffrage that would take place in Hong Kong in July.

The paper says the protest is being organised by University of Hong Kong associate law professor Benny Tai Yiu-ting, Reverend Chu Yiu-ming and Chinese University’s sociology professor Chan Kin-man.

Civic Party lawmaker Tanya Chan Suk-chong and film maker John Shum Kin-fun have also supported the movement and visited Taiwan.

The protestors hope to learn from the Taiwan students’ movement for independence and go about their protest in a peaceful manner.
