As a part of its initiative to promote cultural development in Hong Kong, Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) recently organised the 23rd Hong Kong Drama Awards presentation ceremony at Hong Kong City Hall.

A special broadcast of the event was aired on RTHK Radio on April 19 and additional shows will be broadcast for four consecutive Saturdays in May, from 8 pm to 9.30 pm.

Chen Ping Chui was named the Best Director, Poon Chan Leung was the Best Actor and Yang Ying Ying won the Best Actress award.

The jury was made up of representatives from the RTHK, International Association of Theatre Critics (IATC), Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and Hong Kong Arts Development Council.

Presenters included Deputy Director of Broadcasting (Programme), Tai Keen Man and Assistant Director of Broadcasting and Corporate Programming, Philip Chow.

Several Hong Kong celebrities also presented awards including Alex Man, Eric Cheung, Candice Yu and Kiki Sheung.
